Avionics Design Engineer in Farnborough, Hampshire

ContractWe are recruiting for a Avionics Design Engineer to maximise the possibility of prolonged flight operations in the stratosphere, this role is concentrated on the development of Zephyr Avionics subsystems.
Responsibilities
- Consulting stakeholders to determine the specifications for safety-critical avionics subsystems
- Carrying out whole lifecycle analogue and digital circuit design for difficult thermal and radiation conditions
- Electrical component selection based on specifications
- Qualifying and tracing back to prerequisites
- Organizing avionics system unit testing
- Handling non-conformances at every stage of the design process
- Recording lessons learned and choosing ways to make designs and procedures better
- Monitoring design modifications using a rigorous CCB methodology
- Coordinate work packages for avionics design within a fixed budget (on time, on cost, on quality)
- Evaluate the work of junior engineers and offer guidance
Experience & Qualifications
- BSc, HNC, BEng, and/or a recognised apprenticeship in aerospace Electrical and electronic engineering degree or experience required
- Full-lifecycle design of analogue and digital circuits for challenging thermal and radiation conditions
- Use of FPGA-based Signal Processing and Microsemi FPGA Design Tools, Including Complex Modulation/Demodulation
- Choosing an electronic component in accordance with the specifications.
- Knowledge of space system quality requirements or experience with UAS airworthiness (DO-254, ECSS or similar).
- Knowledge of how to set up and use RF and electronic test equipment.
- Expertise in the theories and practises of communication.
- It would be ideal if you had some (or all) of the following skills and experiences.
: CAE layout for multi-layer mixed signal PCBs (ALTIUM and ORCAD preferred)
: Techniques for manufacturing and testing PCBs.
: Environmental testing for space and high altitude.
: Embedded software development (8051 or similar)
: Experience of requirements capture and management
- The capacity to meet deadlines, specifications, and financial constraints.
- The capacity to carry out a unit design's whole lifecycle, from requirements through detailed design and system trade offs to batch production and prototyping, testing, and system integration.
- ESA ECSS high reliability soldering
- Experience of UAS or Space system level design and documentation.
