Reports to - Product Line Director
To work as part of the Research and Development Engineering Team to develop and create vehicle dynamics physical models for overall vehicle platforms and the electric power train, developing control and optimisation techniques and use this information to resolve challenges and support the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities include
" To take responsibility for simulation models development for vehicle R&H performance characterisation, lap time, chassis data and hard point optimisation, vehicle kinematics, load cases for FEA analysis and system modes & vibration analysis
" To support system/sub-system design and development using advanced simulation techniques
" To advise all aspects of vehicle dynamics across vehicle platform managers
" To take responsibility for innovative concepts generation using advanced up-front analytical techniques.
" To take responsibility for system optimisation analysis for R&H performance improvement
" To take responsibility and Support initial targets and design concepts using design optimisation process
" To take responsibility for system parameters tuning and perform system correlation and validation using high fidelity vehicle dynamics model including real data and co-simulation
" To take responsibility for analysis findings and present these with recommendations to customers and company directors
" To take responsibility for the creation of all technical reports
" To support the business development team with input to proposals including technical content, defining suitable work scopes and timing plans
" To take responsibility to develop and accurately maintain new component libraries development and process tools.
" Degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Motorsport Engineering or equivalent discipline, 2.1 or above. MSc or PhD is desirable
" Advanced level of knowledge and experience of the Dymola, Modelica, CarSim and MatLab/Simulink
" Vehicle dynamic modelling experience
" Experience in MiL, HiL and DiL development
" Experience in optimisation algorithms; preferably lap time optimisation and dynamic non-linear programming
" Advanced analysis and innovative problem solving techniques
" Have significant experience of supporting vehicle design & development via up-front model analysis, from concept level to fully advanced solutions
" Possess wide knowledge in the area of vehicle system dynamics concept design, and their association with high-level vehicle attributes
