Our client is looking for a Tooling Engineer to join its team in Derby. So if you have experience in designing tooling, jigs and fixtures this may be the right role for you!

Job Description

Job title: Tooling Engineer - Jigs and Fixtures Specialist
Location: Derby
Hourly pay rate: £24/hr
Rolling contract
Industries considered: Rail, Rolling Stock, Automotive, Aerospace, Marine

Client Summary:
My client is a global engineering organisation currently seeking a Jigs and Fixtures Specialist to join their team in Derby. From their Derby base, they design and manufacture complex vehicles for use within the passenger transport industry. With locations across the globe this is a truly international organisation that is seen as a market leader in their sector.

Position Summary
Whilst you will not be required to design the fixtures themselves, you will need to have an understanding of what would work effectively in order to produce templates to present to the various suppliers. You will need to have experience in dealing with the tender processes behind the build of such equipment in order to make sure that the product is made to the highest quality and standards, in the specific timeframes and for the right cost.

You will be expected to agree a concept with those internally. This will be done by dealing with all those involved in the process, from the end users through to the final budgetary signers in order to make the concept as effective as possible. From here an order will need to be placed. This will mean obtaining 2-3 different quotes and bringing this back internally to present the best option to the company. Finally you will be responsible for the expediting of the goods.

This will all need to be complete in a busy environment with strict safety standards. As there will be multiple projects to be worked on simultaneously the ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines is essential.

Person Profile/Experience:

You will need/have:
- 5+ years' experience in relevant position
- Experience of working within a large manufacturing department
- Strong engineering background
- Previous experience of dealing with suppliers
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with high value goods

- Degree in an engineering discipline or relevant work experience
