We have an opportunity within a leading automotive client, based out of their Warwickshire head office. As Thermal Systems Engineer you will be working with battery design and release teams as part of the overall Powertrain electrified engineering group.

Position Description:
The role is as a system engineer based in the Battery Thermal Management Systems team within the Battery design and release teams as part of the overall Powertrain electrified engineering group. Reporting to the Thermal Management System Manager/ Principal Engineer the Component Engineer would be responsible for the delivery of the battery pack cooling and heating system to meet quality, cost, weight, timing and functional targets. As system engineer you would work with designs engineers to ensure the CAD designs and drawings are completed with the correct level of integrity.

Skills Required:
1) Experience of complex cooling or heating systems
2) Experience of defining and/or using appropriate 1D and 3D CAE analysis tools to optimise and verify thermal performance and hardware reliability/ durability
3) Understanding of control systems hardware, including sensor technology, control software and diagnostics.

Experience Required:
Degree in relevant discipline or 5years experience in role Experience of electrical vehicle battery system design guidelines and limitations. Understanding of typical battery characteristics, cell cooling and how thermal characteristics affect degradation and durability Understanding of regulatory needs applicable to BEV and PHEV solutions. Understanding fluid mechanics and heat transfer principles. A working knowledge of the design and release process

Experience Preferred:
Able to generate CATIA CAD views and geometry Experience of requirements databases systems Experience of electrical vehicle architecture including BEVs/HEVs/PHEVs etc. Experience of design release process Demonstrated experience of using formal problem solving tools such as Ishikawa and 8Da
