Job Description

Technical Author
Location: Stone, Staffordshire
£27,000 - £30,000

They manufacture and sell laboratory equipment to a global customer base. In order to maintain its commitment to exceed customer's expectations a Technical Author is required. The role will focus on making modifications to current manuals, transferring and/or reformatting content from older products/newly acquired products and fascia/label artwork design.

Main responsibilities of the job
" Produce, amend and maintain product manuals and any other supporting documentation.
" Ensure all product documentation is fully compliant with applicable legislation.
" Work closely with product management and NPD to ensure product manuals are available for all new and existing products.
" To carry our other duties as may be required to achieve the overall purpose of the role.
Critical Competencies
" Excellent communication and presentation skills.
" Technical authoring.
" Able to develop a good understanding of the technologies and processes contained in Bibby's portfolio.
" Use of web based and other technology to communicate and interact with remote locations.
" Design package experience including InDesign, Illustrator, Microsoft Word & Excel and FrameMaker.
" Troubleshooting skills.
" Liaising with staff in other departments to complete the desired task.
" Ability to drive tasks, projects and issues through to a conclusion.

" Mechanical or electrical engineering background.
" Essential to have previous experience in technical authoring of product manuals adhering to the latest applicable standards.

" Proven ability for proof reading, editing and creating templates for reports/guides

People Management:
Instruct new members of the team on procedures as appropriate
Financial Management:
No budget responsibility, but an over responsibility to manage costs where appropriate
