Team Leader - Mechanical

Mechanical team leader Poole Up to £45,000 + benefits Due to consistent growth this client is looking to put in a middle management layer into their team and have a position for a mechanical design manager/ team leader. You will take full responsibility for the management of the Mechanical Design Team, ensuring delivery to the agreed programme timescales and budgets through the proactive management of team performance and resources and ensuring development of the team to their full potential.

You will be responsible for the performance management and development of individuals within the mechanical design team to ensure that they are supported to achieve their goals and aspirations.
Management and allocation of resources within the Mechanical Design Team, including recruitment and training of new staff or contractors to satisfy the business needs.
Write and manage estimated prime cost information to enable new projects to be priced and quoted in support of the Sales / Business Development function
Take ownership for the maintenance of design and standard procedures specific to Mechanical design and in particular ISO 9001 registration.
Look to identify continuous improvements to ensure design procedures are cost effective and aligned to business / product requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Defence systems, Electromechanical etc)
Working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering Design disciplines for large enclosures, ruggedised racking systems, Defence equipment etc
Ability to lead and direct teams from 5-10 engineers
Strong leadership skills with the ability to confidently deal with performance, appraisals, coaching as well as future strategies and best practice
A strong background within a Defence, Aerospace or other highly regulated sector (automotive, Medical)
Ability to build and facilitate good working relationships at all levels across the business
Strong written and verbal communication

Candidates will need to be eligible for UK MoD security clearance.
