Job Description

Job Title: SWS Fire Control Liaison Engineer
Location: Bristol, Somerset
Salary: up to £50,000 + benefits

My client are one of the world's largest Defence and Aerospace organisations and are now seeking a SWS Fire Control Liaison Engineer to join their team in Bristol on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will ideally be currently SC Cleared or must be able to obtain SC Clearance. We cannot consider your application if you do not meet this criteria.

My client are looking for a candidate to work as an integral member of the MoD Strategic Weapons Project Team (SWPT) team based in Bristol. The post holder would be responsible to the SWS Programmes Manager (South). The successful candidate will:
" Work as a fully integrated member of the SWPT Fire Control team
" Represent and assist with the management of various SWPT
" Liaise with internal/external organisations under the direction of SWPT
" Have an understanding of and respect the need for confidentiality
" Provide daily liaison communications between teams at Devonport, SWSB, Corsham and TTF
" Provide on-site technical support to Corsham
" Assist with the Project Management of major modifications to the Fire Control Subsystem

Required Skills:
" Excellent working knowledge of the Fire Control subsystem and support equipment
" Excellent understanding of SSBN SWS Fire Control operations
" Good working knowledge of both 1st and 2nd level Fire Control documentation
" Have a working knowledge of Project and Risk disciplines
" Knowledge of the SWS Logistics process
" Good working knowledge of the interface between Fire Control and other SWS subsystems and Ship Interfaces
" Clear and concise written communication skills
" Ability to orally communicate clearly and effectively at all levels
" Be IT literate in the most common PC based systems
" Be flexible and adaptable while still maintaining good attention to detail
" Have evidence of ability and willingness to adapt within a dynamic environment
" Be enthusiastic, motivated, reliable, show initiative and be able to work to deadlines

Desired:
" Experience of the Polaris Sales Agreement and its background
" Knowledge of the Strategic Weapons Project Team TORs
" Knowledge of the US Strategic Systems Projects stakeholders including design authorities, particularly SP23 and GDAI
" An understanding of the Vanguard class submarines' life cycle
