Our innovative automotive client creates Hybrid and Electric commercial vehicles, but also has work on Formula E and Roborace projects. They are looking for a Steering & Suspension Specialist and are open to a contractor or permanent engineer to join them.

In addition, our client is the Official Electric Truck Partner of the FIA Formula E Championship, supplying electric trucks at events around the world.

The Opportunity
The next phase is to enter production and due to continued growth we have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and focused Steering and Suspension Specialist with experience within an automotive environment design and develop the steering and suspension systems for hybrid electric automotive projects.

Key responsibilities will include

o To develop and design 'end to end' steering and suspension systems and provide appropriate hardware and software support
o To collaborate with suppliers to continuously improve systems
o To provide the development team with appropriate steering and suspension expertise as required
o Build relationships and attend meetings on and off site with suppliers and customers as necessary
o Analyse and report on test data at component, system and vehicle level
o Investigate and resolve suspension and steering issues, working in collaboration with the Vehicle Test Engineer
o To specify correct certification requirements to ensure the product meets homologation and performance targets
o To carry out appropriate calculations to ensure the systems are within stress limits
o To contribute to manufacturing documentation

What we are looking for
We are seeking a great team player with a degree or equivalent in automotive engineering and/ proven experience specialising in chassis and steering, springs dampers, anti-roll bars, racks and pinion, RCB, linkages and actuators.
You will also include Proven experience of working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems as well as strong expertise in ABS and ESP systems.
Excellent Microsoft office, CAD, Solidworks and Catia V/6 Experience.
We are also seeking candidates who have a 'can do' approach with strong attention to detail to help ensure that the agreed standards are met. You will also enjoy a 'hands on' approach with the ability to adapt to changing requirements and forge great working relationships within the team.
