My client is currently looking for a Service Designer for a 6 month initial contract based in Staines.
My client is the UK’s leading energy company, they supply gas and electricity to UK residential and business customers, provide central heating and gas appliance installation and maintenance and low-carbon and energy efficient products and services.
As part of the Service Design team, support the cultural change within IS towards a service oriented approach, including the use of meaningful service oriented language.
The Service Designer will design end to end IT services that are in line with enterprise architecture guidelines, ensuring that solutions and designs include service definitions that are mapped to business services.
They will also represent service and operational owners in the design phases of any change and document service monitoring needs and solutions, Specify non functional requirements from a service perspective whilst working with the service introduction area to make sure operational needs are included in solution architecture and design phases of each change.
Responsibilities will include:
o Makes sure operational readiness testing and training requirements are captured in all solution designs.
o Ensures that all IS Operations teams that are impacted by a change are identified.
o Responsible for signing off service introduction and management scope for each change at each checkpoint (appropriate) prior to handover to operational readiness testing teams.
o Support the definition of standards and design policies for the business solutions area in line with ITIL practices.
o Responsible for the financial impact of service design as part of overall budget impact assessment for any relevant change.
o Responsible for producing Service Design Documentation for all assigned changes, including identification of training requirements.
o Responsible for producing Operational Acceptance Criteria for all assigned changes, including the level of testing required.
o Responsible for reviewing and signing off Requirements and Design documentation for all assigned changes, rejecting them when insufficient to allow an appropriate service design to be produced.
o Responsible for defining the level of support required for a change and associated business criticality.
o Support conversations between the business and BSM to ensure cost of support is included within the business case for any proposed change.
o Responsible for reviewing and signing off Service Transition Plans for all assigned changes
o Support the creation of the service catalogue and service model
o Maintain an up to date service catalogue and service model
o Identify and recommend the alignment of cross domain initiatives.
o Understand and actively follow the Architecture principles.
o Attendance for key decision points in the operating model.
o Provide advisory level consultancy for specific projects and initiatives.
o Keep abreast with developments in the IT industry to ensure that the architectures are kept in line the standards of the industry and our strategic partners.
o Ensure that we only deviate for commercial benefit.
o Provide adhoc service design consultancy as required
o Provide guidance and support to business analysis teams with respect to the specification of non functional requirements
o Maintain contents of the NFR Framework such as standard NFRs.
o Ensure successful handover of the Service Design to the Service Transition resource on the project.
o Leadership and People Management (or Teamwork) Supports, energises and inspires fellow team members.
o Helps create a focused and collaborative team working environment.
