Senior Engineer - Research & Technology

Are you an all-round Engineer with a systems engineering background, having worked in a Technical Discipline involving Mechanical, Electrical, Software or Pneumatics? This role requires a candidate from a high regulated industry, such as Medical Devices, Aerospace or pharmaceutical ideally.

Senior Engineer - Research & Technology
Location - Dorset
£45k up to £50k, DOE

This role is working as part of the Research & Technology team, providing a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts. This individual will need to take a lead in new technology and concept innovation & development for a range of complex medical devices. This role is not product development or Design, but it is involved with new products and researching the project area.

Major Responsibilities
" As a Senior Engineer, works under general direction, independently determines and develops a recommended approach to solutions
" As a thought leader, provides knowledge to teams and other engineers.
" Creates technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical and consistent with project objectives.
" Project manages the development of new technologies, contributing to the completion of milestones.
" Using the required tools, rapidly turn new technologies and product ideas into visual or physical designs and prototypes for evaluation and development.
" Anticipates technical challenges and risks, and when to deviate from standard practices.
" Utilises software, electronics or 3D CAD tools to build test systems and designs.
" Specify, select and integrate mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Integrate electronics and other technologies into the new designs and concepts.
" Supports the process of obtaining approval for new product concepts & technologies for further development by producing supporting documentation.
" Participate in cross functional development teams, and contribute to the continuous improvement and development of the technical prowess of the business locally and globally.
" Contribute to team meetings, liaising with suppliers and other functions outside of the R&T group.
" Act as a conduit between other locations through the communication of ideas, best practice and results across the Centres of Excellence, sharing lessons learnt, and contributing to the development of others.

Experience and Education:

" Qualified mechanical & systems integration engineer.
" Should have at least 5 years experience in 3D CAD systems.
" Proven comprehensive experience in producing 3D CAD models and 2D drawings and associated technical documents within a regulated engineering environment.
" Able to generate good quality engineering drawings.
" Previous technical leadership experience.
" Able to demonstrate knowledge of a wide range of design and manufacturing processes and able to progress a new design from concept to production.
" Willing to self develop across different technical disciplines.

Use of Solidworks would be ideal however this is not a design role, you must be able to understand the software and use it.

All candidates would ideally be degree qualified, a HNC or HND will be considered with a vast range of skills to offer the role.
