Senior Engineer - PCB Design

An opportunity for a PCB Designer has arisen to work for a tier 1 automotive supplier based in Hertfordshire. The client is known globally for their electrical/electronic systems supplying to some of the biggest automotive OEM names on the market. These products include electrical distribution systems, instrument clusters, head-up displays, body electronics, stop-start systems, combi-switches and more- designing, developing and manufacturing them for current and future vehicle programmes.

As a senior PCB design engineer you will be responsible for both board level and layout of electronic components working on a variety of products. This will involve a full-lifecycle approach working from first concepts; through specification, design, development before working closely with the manufacturing plant to create a fully-tested, fully-manufacturable product.

Ideally, you will currently be working as a PCB design engineer looking for a step up or a senior engineer looking for new projects to work on. You will be a whizz at Mentor Graphics - Expedition/Xpedition (people spell it differently) and also have some usage of tools like Cadence Allegro, OrCAD or PSpice. You don't necessarily need to have worked in the automotive sector previously, so if you are currently working within defence or telecommunications then you will also be considered!


- Ideally degree qualified in an engineering topic; either electrical/electronic, telecomms, software or similar.
- Prior background working as a PCB designer is a must; preferably at both board/layout levels.
- Strong user of Mentor Graphics- Xpedition package.
- DFM and DFT principles.
- Prior background in full-lifeycle PCB design work.
- Automotive knowledge would be a massive bonus.
