Job Description

Senior Development Engineer - Diesel Engines
Commutable from; Derby, Stafford, Burton-upon-Trent, Tamworth, Nottingham, Loughborough.
Salary from; £40,000 - £48,000 + Benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven development engineer to join a global engines company at their facility near Derby. They specialise in low emission diesel engines and have seen an increase in demand for their award winning range of products. Due to pressure from the global market place and the never-ending pressure from government legislation there is now even tougher demands for low emissions, improved fuel consumption and outstanding durability.

Mechanical Development Engineers are responsible for developing their engines to meet challenging requirements for durability and fault free performance. In this role Mechanical Development Engineers use their engine knowledge and test engineering skills to develop and execute tests to evaluate and validate component/system performance.

This role includes dynamometer and rig based mechanical development of the following base engine systems:
" Major castings
" Power conversion
" Lubrication system
" Cooling system
" CCV system
" Valve train
" Air path
" Rotating electrics
" Front end accessory drive (FEAD)


" Ideally educated to degree level in an engineering discipline.
" Previous background in designing dynamometer and rig based engine tests
" A sound knowledge of test engineering (e.g. specification of instrumentation, test planning, test automation, data logging)
" Post processing data and post-test evaluation
" Vibration analysis (NVH)
" A good knowledge of FMEA
" Creation of DVPSOR from FMEA documentation
" Modelling of reliability growth data
" Report writing and presenting findings
