My client, a major defence company, is looking for a Satellite Reference Database Architect to join their team in Stevenage.

Job Description

Satellite Reference Database Architect

Outline Job profile
" Support the Master Database Architect wrt Database validation
" Make updates re-useable (i.e. Java scripts, SQL scripts) to optimise the process of incorporating patches onto different versions
" Keep informed all database users of the Database Management Tool of any activities impacting access (from info from Database Architect)
" Discuss improvements to the database system and processes with the other Database Architects and where applicable perform necessary changes, testing and updates to any relevant documentation
" Import, review and provide feedback on received Software Supplier, Equipment and Payload Instrument data
" Follow and suggest improvements to SRDB processes e.g data import, processing Database Problem/Change Report (DPR) Process
" Keep up to date the Master DB DPRs within the DPR system (JIRA software) (e.g. highlighting where patches have been made, marking patched

Qualifications and / or skills and experience
o Basic Programming (Visual basic, C or C++ etc.)
o Microsoft Excel
o SQL/ Java
o Database Management Experience Preferred (Access, My SQL etc.)
o Experience of Bug Tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, Redmine, Bugzilla)
o ESA standards Awareness
o Communication skills key as lots of interface with key stakeholders, able to adapt to a wide variety of audience

Responsibilities will include:
" As Satellite Reference Database (SRDB) Architects: development, verification, validation and release of data to users
" Responsible for providing SRDB patches (e.g. creating and executing Java Scripts or SQL scripts)
" Investigate problems during test related to the SRDB (e.g. analysis of test data)
" DPRs for Master DB attention and generally keeping the DPR 'thread' of information and DPR status up to date)
" Release of Master databases in line with schedule requirements to AIV, FV & ESOC and provision of sufficient release information in a release note for each DB release (DPR patches implemented, relevant OBSW db is compatible)
