Rolling Stock Inspector - Production Approval And Acceptance

My client is responsible for the biggest construction project in Europe, helping to improve London's commuter infrastructure. Moving into the final and critical stages of the project, the successful applicant will join a small but very important team. On a two year fixed term contract, as the Inspector for Train Works Delivery you will be required to ensure that the manufactured Rolling Stock meets the required levels of quality assurance and acceptance in preparation for launch.

Job Description


* You will be key in influencing supplier conduct and behaviour in the areas of Quality Assurance to ensure acceptable vehicle build quality.
* Maintain a "hands on" approach to the inspection, surveillance and verification activity on individual vehicles and completed trains.
* Participate with the formal progressive Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) compilation prior to Acceptance, producing appropriate records and key performance indicators.
* Assist the Assurance & Acceptance Manager to achieve project deliverables in accordance with project quality plans and related documentation.
* Ensure any quality related issues are fed-back and suitably addressed, post-despatch.
* Ensure and aware to the manufacturers internal processes and progress, escalating any issues to the Senior Project Manager of Rolling Stock where applicable.
* Work in sync with Testing & Commissioning teams ensuring that any quality related issues are fed-back and suitably addressed.
* Highlight any specific Risk and Safety concerns and be actively involved in providing mitigating solutions.

The Challenge

* Ensuring that the business and rolling stock manufacturer agree acceptable quality and approvals standards prior to delivery, and that these are demonstrably achieved and documented.
* Ensuring that consistency of requirements is maintained by the business across all worksites, and that any post-despatch quality issues are addressed in a controlled manner.
* To communicate and report progress in a concise, timely and accurate manner, keeping the Senior Project Manager well informed.
* To maintain a high level of flexibility when dealing with changing requirements.
* To carefully manage different teams and stakeholders and appropriately handle information of various sensitivities.
* To identify issues and offer solutions that may be practically implemented within the role and the team you work within.


* Previous experience and Technical knowledge gained through working within a rolling stock assembly environment.
* An in-depth knowledge, understanding and practical implementation quality assurance
* Ability to identify and resolve assurance issues
* Confident in ability to produce periodic reports and visual trackers for project management review.
* Quality Auditing/Lead Assessor experience and/or qualifications.
* Knowledge of Configuration Management and Modification Change control techniques.
* Experience of Warranty Management and New Vehicle Acceptance.
* Can demonstrate a methodical and analytical approach to work, using own initiative to manage own workload.
* MS Office literate (Word and Excel as a minimum).
* To confidently act as a face of the business and represent its interests to the supplier organisation and other bodies.
