Research Engineer - Real World Emissions

The future is uncertain when it comes to fuel types and whether we are going to be in a fully hybrid/electric vehicle world. All we know is that until then, we need to make sure our emission tests are reliable and accurate as well as do everything we can to reduce them. If you want to play a part in this then please apply now...!

Job Description

Research Engineer - Real World Emissions (RDE)
Location; Warwickshire
Salary; £Competitive + Benefits
Permanent

The pressure is on for OEM's to achieve consistency in emission results and avoid inaccurate readings as automotive legal bodies tighten the legislation of how we test our cars in the cell, on the rolling road and now out on the public highway. But this is not enough! We must strive for consistency whether that be in high-altitudes or freezing temperatures. In order to avoid further emissions-related PR disasters and to further develop their global corporate social responsibility to the environment and automotive world, a market leading consultancy are expanding their facilities, teams and knowledge on the subject to provide expert advice to their powertrain customers.

As a Real World Emissions Engineer you will be responsible for leading the simulation and modelling for the prediction of real world emissions. A key part will involve developing a portfolio of intellectual property and technical skills to provide commercialisation/business development opportunities and supporting the transfer of new RDE competences in to test and engineering business areas for long term success plans.

Ideally, you will currently be working within a research based role either within an industry or academic setting on the simulation/modelling of emissions data. You will have a solid grasp of emissions legislation within various global territories, the tools and challenges faced with RDE testing as well as a solid knowledge of the variables (and their effects!) in testing.

Skills/Knowledge;

- Ideally degree qualified in an engineering discipline; an MSc or PhD would put you at a distinct advantage.
- A demonstrable knowledge of global vehicle emissions certification.
- An innovative thinker who can demonstrate the challenges of RDE testing and the variables within this.
- A proven background within emissions simulation/modelling, and/or calibration & controls.
- A self-starter who can understand new technologies and ideas quickly, often working outside of one's comfort zone!
- A strong and confident communicator who can network with RDE/emission industry professionals to help shape the future.
