Quality/HSE Engineer

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality/HSE Engineer will support the Senior Quality Engineer and be responsible for late shift operations, Working closely with the shift leader and team, you will ensure the quality and health and safety outputs meet operational expectations

Job Description

Quality/HSE Engineer
Birmingham (commutable from Coventry, Wolverhampton, Nuneaton, Worcester, Sutton, Derby, Leamington Spa)
£30,000 + Shift allowance

Responsibilities:
" Mentoring & training on quality & processing activities to develop new and existing employees.
" 'Safe Delivery' of new projects into the business.
" Delivering continuous improvement projects as directed.
" Conducting process / product audits
" Supporting quality & production departments , as requested
" PPAP activities such as MSA .Gauge R&R, IMDS, FMEA's .SPC etc
" Reduction of company PFMEA RPN ratings to reduce risk.
" Timely and correct resolution of corrective actions to drive improvement in quality & reliability where applicable
" Ensuring that customer requirements are met.
" Ensuring 'best practice' to maintain good house-keeping practices (5S) throughout the department.
" Facilitate the processing of customer complaints and initiating corrective actions in a timely manner.
" Supporting the quality department with completion of First Offs using CMM and other inspection equipment (when requested).
" Utilising CAD data to programme off-line, improving department/CMM efficiencies (OEE)
" Ensuring safety protocols are met and continually improved
" Conduct regular tours of worksite activities, taking appropriate action to control potential hazardous situations / unsafe conditions and ensure good quality practices are applied at all times
" Lead the team to conduct incident investigations, resolving adverse HSE issues through effective & timely corrective and preventative action processes
" Identifying and implementation of control methods for eliminating or reducing the risk
" Conducting internal EHS audits as directed
" First Aid at Work
" Sound knowledge of HSE principles and legislation
" Must be familiar with chemicals and ensure good knowledge of risks and management of Best Practice.
" Appreciation of Environmental Issues

Requirements:
" NEBOSH Certification preferred
" Proven track record in a similar role
" The individual must have the ability to communicate and influence throughout the organisation.
" Excellent written and verbal communication
" Experience with Microsoft office suite , data collection and analysis tools
" A methodical approach to prioritize and complete work in a timely and effective manner.
" CQI Qualified (preferred)
" Auditor Qualified (preferred)
" Previous experience in a Quality & HSE function required
" Ability to interpret customer drawing
" Experienced in the use of inspection equipment, including non-contact CMM'
" The individual should be prepared to develop oneself further in training and education should the situation arise
