Mission and Main Objectives

Nissan is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill an opening for Experienced Buyers at our UK based technical centre. The roles are located within our Electronics, Trim or Aftersales Purchasing teams. Working within our global purchasing organisation, this role will involve management of both supplier and internal relationships and also cost reduction activity to achieve challenging targets.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be sufficiently flexible to assume responsibility for any aspects of the following:
" Support strategic Purchasing top management message, ensuring supplier expectations are clearly defined and suppliers are committed to achieving goals and objectives in the areas of Quality, Cost Competitiveness (total delivered cost) and Delivery.
" Develop strategies that strengthen the quality of Nissan's relationship with the supply base by identifying opportunities to continuously improve the effectiveness of communications and supplier relationship building activities.
" Promote and encourage cross functional participation from all areas of Monozukuri (Quality, SCM, Purchasing, R&D, and Manufacturing) in order to maximise total cost reduction & technical optimisation whilst maintaining the stringent Quality standards required by Nissan.
" Actively manage sourcing activities relating to Renault-Nissan models, via management of RFQs, key sourcing processes and quotation analysis / negotiation.
" Developing and maintaining a strong industrial awareness through investigation of new supply markets and assessing suppliers' capability.
" Actively participate in supplier Genba (Shopfloor) activities to optimise Value Added activities
" Key systems maintenance for costing tracking and Purchase order changes

Background and Knowledge

" Experience: post graduate experience ideally in a Purchasing environment, preferably Automotive or similar high volume industry
" Robust knowledge and experience of working in a fast paced Purchasing organisation, specifically focusing on Body Electronics, Trim or Aftersales Commodities
" You will need to be a team player with a proactive, flexible attitude, able to work within tight deadlines and deliver under pressure.
" Proven cost reduction experience using a number of techniques (benchmarking/negotiation/process improvement etc.) with a demonstrable track record of achievement of cost reduction targets and project based deliverables.
" MS Office computer skills. (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
" Language Skills: Fluent English speaker, other languages would be an advantage
