Job Description

Project / Programme Managers
Poole, Dorset (very near the beach!)
£35-45,000 + OT, 9 day fortnight

My client is involved in the design, development and manufacture of electronic displays, consoles and heavy mounted rack systems for the Defence, Naval and commercial domains.
Due to an increase in project work they are looking for 2 Project and Programme managers to be responsible for full product lifecycle management from concept design through to production and product completion

The company has a distinct difference in responsibilities for their project and programme managers but will consider people from either camps or those who span both:
'Programme managers' (£40-45k) are responsible for the front end product development, client liaison and management and seeing projects through the design lifecycle including all change controls and ensuring the designs are fit for purpose, manufacturable and ready for production.

'Project Managers' (£35-40k) are responsible for managing the product as it goes through the production facility, ensuring timely delivery, managing the MRP system, risk mitigation and supporting any issues internally on the shop floor or through final test phase.


" Understanding project requirements (customer and internal) and ensuring traceability at each stage in the product lifecycle
" Developing and tracking schedules, budgets and project spends
" Developing product cost targets and tracking estimates
" Managing and communicating changes to requirements, schedules, spend and product cost
" Managing risks though the successful application of effective identification and mitigation strategies.
" Maintaining strong and effective communications with all key project stakeholders, both inside and outside the business with clear and decisive articulation of status, issues, impacts and action plans.

Knowledge and Qualifications

" Degree level or equivalent with a technical engineering design or manufacturing background (Mechanical, Electronics etc)
" Proven ability in a Project / Programme Management role in a dynamic, high technology manufacturing environment - Defence, Aerospace preferred
" APM or Prince 2 qualification preferred
" Previous knowledge of working in a fast-paced product development organisation supporting full product lifecycle from concept design through to production
" Strong technical engineering background for the development of electronic and electromechanical systems with a good understanding of full systems development
" Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven skills in meeting the needs of multiple customers at all levels within the business
" A natural ability to absorb complex technical and logistical issues and work with a cross-functional team to define resolution plans
" The role will entail travel to client sites to understand requirements and support installation
