Job Title/s: Project Engineer, Development Engineer, Body Electronics Engineer

An opportunity has arisen within a leading automotive client, based out of their Cranfield Technical Centre. The role of Project Engineer is responsible for the application and integration of electrical and electronic systems to current vehicle projects. This will include the capture of requirements, the creation of high-level specifications, liaison with other Alliance R&D Centres, the management of suppliers and the adoption of parts in European and Russian production plants.

Candidate Requirements:
-Have relevant experience in an automotive electrical and electronic development environment, having completed a minimum of one previous vehicle development cycle with a vehicle manufacturer or supplier. (Equivalent experience on a major development program, e.g. in aerospace, telecomm's or similar may be considered).
-Have experience of managing Tier 1 suppliers in the development of a complex electronic product.
-Have good communication skills and be able to communicate effectively in a cross cultural and cross functional team.
-Be self-motivated and self-managing, pro-active, positive, personable and energetic.
-Be flexible regarding working practice and working hours.
-Be able to travel abroad, typically a few days to 2 weeks, but on rare occasions could be longer.
-Familiar with software and hardware development.
-Competent with PC applications, MS Office, etc.
-Knowledge of CAN.
-Knowledge of RF theory and low power RF communications.
-Basic knowledge of development of plastic injection moulded and pressed metal parts
-Some knowledge of high level language software modelling.
-Understanding of electronic mass production techniques and processes.

-Capture the requirements of European customers and System Owners
-Develop high level specifications for body electronics components
-Negotiate and coordinate specification development with Alliance R&D Centres in Japan, North America, Russia and India.
-Design and maintain EOL configuration data through development and lifecycle
-Manage Tier 1 suppliers to deliver products to Quality, Cost & Timing targets.
-Manage in-house and supplier validation of components to standards.
-Work with test and customer orientated engineering teams to resolve concerns.
-Collaborate with Purchase team to support sourcing and cost definition/reduction tasks.
-Ensure that parts applied are fit for purpose through Design Review
-Carry out European Frontline activities such as Launch and Market concern resolution
-Make Cost, Quality & Timing Status reports to management.
