My client is a global engineering organisation currently seeking a Production Manager in their welding department to join their team in Derby.

Production Manager - Welding Department
Job location: Derby
Hourly pay rate: £neg
Duration: 3 month rolling contract
Hours: Basic days - some shift work may be required
Start date:ASAP

Position Summary

This role requires and experienced Production Manager in order to lead teams in the production of a quality product that is to be delivered on time and in a safe working environment.

The main focus of this position is to organise and control inventory to meet manufacturing and material flow needs and maintain production within agreed delivery schedule. You will need to proactively manage bottlenecks using a highly visible system and resolve problems.

You will need to ensure that quality requirements are appropriate, defined and available. This will include conducting regular team meetings to systematically review feedback for external and internal suppliers and agree any counter measures. All the while ensuring appropriate documentation and records are kept.

You will be expected to ensure that workplace standards are established to clean, organise and maintain a safe workplace environment and maintain team visual management system. Together with the team you will analyse information on disturbances and implement solutions using continuous improvement methodology.

As part of the continuous improvement methodology you will ensure that colleagues are skilled to undertake specified maintenance tasks and that critical equipment is identified. This will also work towards improving equipment availability, reliability, robustness and capability.

Person Profile/Experience:

" 3+ years experience in a supervisory role
" Previous experience in a heavy industry environment
" Previous experience of leading teams of around 15
" Have a flexible and adaptable working about
" Problem solving skills
" Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
" Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement

Hours: The plan is to keep this role to basic day shifts where possible i.e. Mon-Fri, 7.30 - 4pm (12.30 on Friday). However during busy times, flexibility would be needed to match other shift patterns if required.
