Power Electronics Engineer
£50,000 + benefits

Our client is a small high-tech automotive engineering company specialising in the design and development of high speed electric motors and drives for automotive turbo-charging applications.
To support expansion plans and increased commercial activity the company is looking to recruit an innovative and enthusiastic power electronics design engineer to join its busy engineering team, working on the design and develop electronic power systems for Turbochargers.

The Role:

" The position will focus on the design, build and test of power electronics systems for high speed motor applications, reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer and working within the multi-disciplinary engineering team.
" You will be responsible for generating conceptual designs based on technical specifications for high speed motor drives.
" Circuit simulation and optimisation.
" Design and simulate power electronics circuits including physical layout.
" Design interface, gate drive and control PCBs
" Creation and verification of embedded control software.
" Assist in building of prototype power electronics and control systems and testing to verify simulation.
" Participate in the creation of functional specifications, DVP, FMEA, test procedures.
" Identify opportunities for improvements in functionality and manufacture.

Skills / Knowledge:

" Degree qualified or equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering
" You must have proven skills in motor drive design for the automotive markets including inverters and DC-DC converters, transformers, high speed motors, motor drives, PSU's, SMPS etc.
" PCB circuit design and optimisation.
" Embedded control software experience desirable but not essential.
" Practical, hands-on experience of prototype circuit build, test equipment and result analysis.
" Good team working, communication and presentation skills.
" Self-starter, able to prioritise and plan effectively.
" Excellent problem solving skills and a creative approach for new ideas.
