Job Description

Vehicle Technician - Portable Emissions Testing x 2
Location: Bedford

The engine and vehicle emissions market is in the news on a daily basis at the moment and with the ever increasing government awareness striving for a carbon free future, a growing automotive consultancy are looking to play a key part in that. At present, the company currently offer test and development consultancy services to a majority of the UK's automotive OEM's and (with the increased workload) are looking to modernise, update and expand their powertrain/engine testing capabilities.

Furthermore, the EU has recently introduced a new piece of legislation which states that all vehicles will need to be tested out on the highway as dyno testing cannot account for all the different test variables. With that in mind, we are now looking for a driven and energetic vehicle technicians to be responsible for all aspects of portable emissions and fuel consumption testing from vehicle preparation, equipment installation, test driving to set routes and driving styles, formulating and validating test results. You will also have to maintain and calibrate all PEMS related test equipment.

About you:

Qualifications:

+ Ideally qualified to apprenticeship level or equivalent motor vehicle studies education.
+ Must hold a current a valid UK driving licence.
+ Personal attributes: driven and energetic - the client are looking for the right people to help grow their company!

Skills:

+ A solid understanding and interest in motor vehicle fundamentals - if you tinker with cars in your spare times or perform modifications to your own vehicle that would be interesting...
+ A background working with sheet metal fabrication would be useful.
+ A knowledge or usage of vehicle instrumentation.
+ Emissions knowledge! Emissions testing would be even better.
