Microsoft Windows Infrastructure Specialist

My client is currently looking to recruit a Microsoft Windows Infrastructure Specialist for a 6 month contact based in Havant

The key activities and responsibilities of the role are:

- Plan, prepare, implement, validate, and document all Microsoft Windows, and VMware changes to IT environments
- Perform day to day management and support of Microsoft Windows, and VMware platforms in operational, test, and development environments
- Troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and implement resolution of IT related incidents
- Work closely with other team members to ensure provision of required Microsoft Windows, and VMware services within associated performance targets
- Fulfil role of subject matter expert in specialist area(s), sharing knowledge with and coaching development of other team members
- Be prepared to provide on-call support in a 24x7 environment (on a rota basis)

Required skills, qualifications and experience

- Previous experience implementing and supporting complex IT environments, including those with embedded operating systems
- In-depth design knowledge and operational support experience of Microsoft Windows, and VMware technologies
- Microsoft Active Directory (including Group Policy and management of users, groups, sites and replication)
- DNS (to include configuration of complex DNS namespaces)
- VMware vSphere
- SSL/TLS implementation using IIS
- PowerShell scripting
- Windows security permissions, ACLs, security policies and templates
- Basic network troubleshooting skills (TCP/IP, conceptual knowledge of VLANs)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to investigate issues, diagnose root cause, and recommend appropriate corrective actions
- Proven ability to provide solutions to a wide range of challenging technical problems
- Enthusiastic self-starter with strong organisation and communication skills
- Capable of operating to tight schedules in a demanding environment

Desired skills, qualifications and experience

- Knowledge and operational experience of any of the following:
- MCSE, MCSA or equivalent
- Technical documentation and document management
- Good working knowledge of Server and Storage Hardware
- Knowledge of supporting Linux based servers within a Microsoft Windows and Active Directory environment
- Experience with administration and configuration of Apache HTTP Server and Apache Tomcat server on Microsoft Windows Server
- SNMP and/or Systems Management Software
- Working Knowledge of EPO AV solutions and infrastrucutre
- Experience in Backup and Recovery technologies, suppporting Microsoft Windows, and VMware environments
- Familiarity with the ITIL framework
