Materials Laboratory Technician

Job Purpose
o To execute material and component testing to support materials development, design verification and vehicle launch.
o To execute development and sign-off testing for durability (accelerated ageing).
o To provide proactive, organisational and practical skills to plan, set-up, run and complete all test requirements in a timely manner.
o To create and write test reports and raise any concern occurred during the test plan.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
o Support & execute physical & mechanical tests on components, trimmed components, roll stock materials & test plaques.
o Support & execute climatic testing on components, trimmed components, roll stock materials and test plaques.
o Support & execute mechanical testing on adhesives and coupons.
o Check components & materials prior to test & report any issue.
o Prepare samples for tests. Run test according to test standards & methods.
o Raise concerns when necessary to Materials Engineer and Materials Team Leader (timing issue on component delivery/test equipment availability/target for test report, equipment concern, test failure, component quality prior to performance analysis).
o Ensure 5S standard management of testing facilities.
o Ensure test completion to meet delivery targets.

Qualifications & Experience
o Degree or equivalent qualification in Materials Engineering, Polymers Science, Chemistry or related subject.
o Experience in automotive industry (experience within other engineering sectors will also be considered).
o Experience in Laboratory Materials testing.
o Knowledge of metals and non-metallic materials.
o Assimilate automotive test procedures.
o Data recording, analysis & report writing.
o Colour awareness.
o Good technical & manual skills.
o Good communication skills: able to communicate ideas clearly & concisely.
o Good time management & organisational skills.
o Capability of working under pressure.
o Knowledge of automotive test standards.
