Material Controller - SAP

A large Defence client is recruiting for a a Material Planner to join the team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be in control the supply of manufactured and purchased items in a time frame that supports the Master Production Schedule (MPS) ensuring that all material in supply chain is at an appropriate build standard. Maintain material status within SAP expediting internal make and external supply items to ensure compliance to plan.

What you'll be doing:

It is essential the candidate has experience of the following:

Delivery of kits to and from the line including the scheduling and replenishment of free issue material with suppliers
Proactively interface with Manufacturing TL, PPM or Procurement to facilitate progress to completion of WIP or delivery of materials in accordance with required schedule
Proactively address supplier scheduling that may be impacting progress to completion of material to the plan
Control supplier schedule/expediting priorities considering impact on other SG projects involving same supplier. Escalate via Procurement if contractual impact
Control of RTV material logistics from shop floor back to supplier.
Alignment of commercial RTV terms via Procurement/MRB and root cause via QA. Control of supplier RTV schedule back to Client.

Desirable Experience:

Proactively address supplier scheduling that may be impacting progress to completion of material to the plan
Release and management of internal work orders
Control of RTV material logistics from shop floor back to supplier.
Alignment of commercial RTV terms via Procurement/MRB and root cause via QA. Control of supplier RTV schedule back to Leonardo.
Call off material from suppliers based on production requests + purchase requisitions against procurement enabled PIR's
Review, agree and action release of PLOs to schedule
Advise relevant internal stakeholders when delays likely to impact achievement of time fenced MPS, proposing reprioritisation of work within the plan and solve problems
Implement push-pull messages to align with MPS changes
Ensure supplier is contractually enabled to comply to push-pull messages.
Escalate supplier performance impacting the plan to Procurement if cannot resolve directly
Expedite unconverted requisitions or kits not picked

Control of the shop floor from a system perspective i.e works order and
PO over dues
RTV turnaround times incoming outgoing
Item Status accuracy
Data accuracy as defined
Supplier delivery schedules aligned with Procurement and with MPS
Supplier OTD to MRP date, contractual date and forecast date

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required:

Computer skills including SAP Work order maintenance and SAP PO maintenance
Product knowledge including material makeup and suppliers
Good communication skills including liaison with suppliers (written and verbal)
Good knowledge and experience of expediting material
Good experience of processes and product to allow a level of independent working
Good understanding of fundamentals of MRP, push-pull scheduling
Knowledge of appropriate areas of SAP system, with understanding of the impact of their contribution
Good organisational skills, demonstrated through ability to plan and prioritise
Basic understanding of company cost systems & key performance metrics
