Manufacturing engineer to provide manufacturing advice and support to the design process and R&D activity for the hybrid electric automotive project. Contributing effective production processes to optimise the proposed manufacturing plan, utilising lean techniques so that quality products are produced, on time and on budget.

Manufacturing engineer - Automotive
Oxford (commutable from Swindon, Basingstoke, Gloucester, Leamington Spa, Northampton, reading, Maidenhead, Milton Keynes, Banbury, Cheltenham)
£35-45k

Manufacturing engineer to provide manufacturing advice and support to the design process and R&D activity for the hybrid electric automotive project. Contributing effective production processes to optimise the proposed manufacturing plan, utilising lean techniques so that quality products are produced, on time and on budget.

Responsibilities
o To provide day to day support for manufacturing and liaison with Research & Development.
o Provide advice to the design team with regards to standards and processes for manufacture.
o Apply lean principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.
o Deliver capable processes and tools for production operations.
o Create 'step by step' standard operating procedures for the product design.
o Train and coach the engineering team in the use of lean manufacturing methods to maximize efficiency throughout the team.
o To work with the team with regards to project planning, selection of equipment and suppliers.
o An ambassador driving continuous improvement in lean manufacturing, safety, quality and efficiency.

Requirements
o Degree or equivalent in Production Engineering / Manufacturing Systems.
o A high level of competence and practical application experience to support and develop lean and design manufacturing processes.
o Six Sigma Black Belt in lean manufacturing and expertise gained within the heavy duty automotive arena is desirable.
o The ability to analyse CAD to transfer to manufacturing, experience and knowledge of Catia V6 and ideally Solidworks
o The ability to articulate in written format the design for manufacture, for ease of production is essential.
