Lead Mechanical / Piping Engineer required for a new nuclear project based in the South West UK! This role is ideal if you have previous working experience in the nuclear or the Oil & Gas EPC market!

This role will involve -

Managing engineering solutions, which fully comply with all UK legal requirements together with clients business case needs.
Performing competence assessments of project personnel undertaking mechanical and piping design duties, as required.
Establishing and maintaining the mechanical and piping engineering configuration to ensure the intent and integrity is maintained throughout the project life.
Integrating and co-ordinating mechanical and piping engineering input between JV members and sub-contractors.
Management of inter-discipline interfaces with other Lead Engineers.
Ensuring that technical and design risks in field of expertise are identified and appropriately managed to meet project requirements.
Ensuring design decisions are recorded and auditable through the life of the project.
Ensuring design information requirements are co-ordinated and communicated to relevant parties.
Monitoring and reporting to relevant parties the quality of engineering across discipline.
Ensuring value engineering is undertaken in a timely manner.
Ensuring timely documentation for all necessary approvals (including any required from external authorities).
Ensuring company requirements are incorporated into the design process including safety, quality, environmental, security and health.
Ensuring that designs are compliant with statutory requirements.
Extensive and relevant experience of co-ordinating civil, structural and architectural design teams within both conventional and hazardous environments.
Working with multi-cultural design teams and a full understanding of the regional cultural differences that this entails.
Experience as operating as a Designer in accordance with the CDM regulations.
Preferably experience of working with the UK Office of Nuclear Regulation.

For this Lead Mechanical / Piping Engineer role it is essential that you have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or an Equivalent discipline and the ability to hold UK Security Clearance (SC).
