My client is seeking a Lead Commodity Manager to perform a full range of source selection and Commodity Management functions for product materials, capital purchases and services for both current and future products.

The successful candidate will have worked within a strategic procurement environment and have ideally owned a commodity.

Responsibilities:
- Local management responsibility for a small team of commodity managers as part of a global Procurement organisation.
- Responsible for development, implementation and adherence of local procurement policies and processes in line with Global requirements.
- Develops complex buying strategies to purchase and arrange timely deliveries of supplies and materials for domestic and international purchases.
- Negotiates prices, terms and quality requirements. Reducing on an annual basis the cost of purchased parts providing positive purchase price changes and year on year reduction of standard costs
- Manage supplier capabilities in order to deliver materials in line with business requirements in terms of quality and supply.
- Performs value analysis to identify cost improvements. Identify and co-ordinate cost-reduction opportunities for materials ensuring correct approvals and evaluations are obtained.
- Analyse and report on supplier performance metrics including delivery and quality including development of supplier development plans where necessary.
- When escalated resolves complex delivery, quality or other related problems with purchases and invoices.
- Communicate proactively with Stakeholders on Supply Issues ensuring actions are taken to minimize the operational impact.
- Management of Complex engineering changes within area of responsibility – ensuring all suppliers receive and acknowledge the latest engineering documentation.
- To maintain an awareness of and to comply with the company’s Program for Legal Compliance and Corporate Responsibility.

Requirements:
- Proven ability gained within similar role.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
- Able to drive and deliver new initiatives and business improvements.
- Strategic procurement experience / owned a commodity.
- Strong analytical skills and able to deal with large amounts of complex data.
- Familiar with lean concepts and tools.
- Certification of a professional body associated with procurement preferred.
- Flexibility to be able to travel at short notice.
- Microsoft Excel skills.
