Technical Support Engineer - Northumberland (with travel to other sites)
Permanent
Up to £38,000 with £6,000 car allowance

The role
The Technical Support Engineer will support the IT infrastructure to minimise IT issues, service issues and network outages. This person will also be responsible for answering questions and resolving IT issues in person, via telephone and remotely. IT support will be required across infrastructure and applications.

Reporting into the IT Manager this a key role in helping this company to achieve its strategic objectives around their IT function. The Technical IT Support Engineer will regularly communicate with the users and the IT teams across all the business units and therefore there will be travel required across sites.

Role responsibilities include;

* Responsibility for IT infrastructure incidents across service, server, infrastructure and networks technologies
* Responsibility for issues reported through the IT support ticketing system (Service Now)
* Identify, diagnose and resolve all IT related issues submitted via ServiceNow
* Provide hardware and application support for users across multiple locations, including Scotland, England, Germany, Singapore, Dubai and Brazil (remotely where required)
* Set up and on-boarding of users through Active Directory, Exchange and other tools
* Work closely with the USA based network team to support the network LAN and WAN and where necessary support the network specialist in solving network related issues on the internal network across these multiple locations

Qualifications and experience

* Experience supporting IT infrastructure, servers and networks
* Experience with "Service Now" ticketing system
* Proven experience of working in a support and ticket resolution and issue management role
* Working knowledge of and clear understanding of procedures, process and application of best practices for IT support e.g. ITIL
* Excellent communication skills with a sound ability to work closely with internal users and other stakeholders
* Server related certifications (preferable Microsoft/VMWare)
* Network certifications (preferable CISCO)
* ITIL certifications
* Project Management certifications would be advantageous

This is a very diverse role and offers the opportunity to become involved with the full IT Support life-cycle including some project based work and involvement in IT strategy. The successful candidate will need to be flexible as this role will require some mobility to other locations across the UK - specifically Aberdeen initially - and potentially Europe in order to interact with the other IT Teams for full IT functionality.
