IT Security Engineer

I am currently seeking a Security Engineer for 6 month contract role based in Berkshire. You will be working on a customer site, helping to deliver SIEM implementation and development as well vulnerability testing, evaluation and remediation.

Job Description

Security Engineer - SIEM Exp Required

6 Month Initial Contract

You will report directly to the VP of IT Security, who is responsible for the recently established Information Security function.
You will be responsible for analysing systems, applications and supporting infrastructure, and recommending and developing security measures to protect information against unauthorized access, modification or loss. You will also act as the interface between the business, information security governance, Enterprise Architecture and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
" Information security vulnerability testing, evaluation and remediation
" Implementation and ongoing development of the use of a SIEM solution
" Technical compliance reviews
" Manage and expand information security infrastructure technologies as required by projects and business as usual
" Keep information security infrastructure up to date with emerging threats and vulnerabilities
" Monitor industry security updates, technologies and best practices to improve security management
" Ensure that information security controls deployed within the company's infrastructure are effective at mitigating the identified security risks
" Work collaboratively with the wider information security team and other groups to ensure that all infrastructure and information security controls meet internal and external compliance requirements
" Develop and maintain appropriate technical information security documents and records
" Prepare and present information on progress and resolution of information security gaps to leadership
Qualification, Skills & Experience
" Knowledge of risk assessment procedures, policy formation, authentication technologies and security attack pathologies
" Technically proficient in security-related hardware and software, forensics and other security systems
" Technical proficiency in broader areas of IT, including networking, servers, desktops and mobile devices
" Appropriate industry certifications (e.g. CISSP, CompTIA Security+)
" Oral and written communication skills with the ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that is understandable for non-technical audiences
" Ability to lead technical teams that cross multiple business functions
