Location: - Cheltenham
Salary: - £25,000 - £30,000
Data Centre Installation Technician required for the UK's leading Engineering Support Service Organisation.
**Candidates must be willing and eligible for a DV Security Clearance**
A British multinational Support Services organisation who focus on the Defence and Engineering sectors.
Provide maintenance activities for all electrical, mechanical and communication equipment installed within a Data Centre and, when required, to provide electrical installation support at UK and overseas locations.
*Work under the direction of the Data Centre Team Leader and provide installation, reconfiguration and decommissioning as required for electrical, mechanical and communication equipment within the Data Centre
*Assist the Data Centre Team Leader to ensure that all installation related documentation is submitted for approval prior to undertaking any Data Centre work and on completion of all tasks; including method statements and risk assessments
*Ensure all systems are installed to appropriate engineering standards, as dictated by professional bodies, ensuring best practice is employed in all installation activities
*Ensure that all activities undertaken are in compliance with Installation and Data Centre QMS processes
*Conduct as required: rack install, equipment installation, equipment removal, disposal and declass, rack wiring, power cabling, electrical test, structured cabling, patching (cable), structured cabling, CATx and fibre test, configuration and audit, red line drawings, low value consumable, PAT & FIT Testing
*Monitoring stocks of spares and reordering as required
Knowledge, Qualification and Experience
*Possess an adequate knowledge of and compliance with the Health and Safety policy and regulations consistent with their responsibilities
*Possess or be willing to gain a Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification
*Possess (or be willing to gain) an adequate knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) 2015 regulations
*Possess, or be able to obtain IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Level
Specific Electrical Qualifications and Skills
*Working knowledge of electrical installations (Basic record of proven ability in related work)
*Working knowledge of the Code of Practice for the In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (4th Edition)
*Familiar with the build and configuration of communications rack builds
*Basic record of proven ability in the termination of all types of data cabling
