Infotainment Systems Engineer

Are you an infotainment systems engineer seeking a new challenge? Would you like to work in an ever-changing market for a research focused automotive client?

Job Description

You will be working with an ambitious automotive technical centre striving to become a leader in Europe by 2020. Your main purpose as an infotainment systems engineer will be to design and develop the Infotainment systems for UK market such as DAB, RDS, EU Navigation, eCall and smart phone connectivity.

Your requirements:
-Significant engineering experience, preferably within a Vehicle Engineering function.
-Significant knowledge and experience of vehicle based infotainment systems including head unit, displays and antennae.
-A sound electrical specific component and system knowledge with a broad understanding of vehicle integration and the overall vehicle delivery process, or good knowledge of whole vehicle engineering delivery and integration.
-Experience in supplier technical appraisal, nomination, liaison, and component delivery management.
-Good IT skills and experience of appropriate software applications (Excel, MS Project etc.)
-An ability to operate across national and cultural boundaries requiring sensitivity and understanding but on occasions technical leadership in focused skill areas.
-Previous experience of working outside the UK (preferably in China or with Chinese companies).
-An understanding of BOM and change management activities and processes.
-Good communication skills at all levels within an engineering function.
-A flexible and committed attitude and motivated to deliver in difficult, challenging and changing circumstances.
-Demonstrable understanding and awareness of costs.
-Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
-A recognised qualification (preferably a degree) in Electrical Engineering or Automotive Engineering or other relevant discipline.
-Knowledge of DFSS at Yellow belt level or above to support investigation and data collection.

Your responsibilities:
-Responsible for the design and delivery of EU/UK specific Infotainment system features
-Responsible for ensuring features meet marketing and program requirements
-Responsible for ensuring all features are fully validated including overseas testing where required
-Supporting investigation work including report feedback on engineering and vehicle market issues within the appropriate company time scales
-Identifying any future telematics legislation requirements and highlighted and reported back to senior management in a timely manner
-Ensuring robust system and component specifications are written and released
-Support the global infotainment and telematics strategy team in research of future trends
