Industrial Engineer

Our medical device client who specialise in cancer screening devices is looking for an Electrically biased Industrial Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.

Job Description

Job Role: Industrial Engineer
Location: Crawley
Salary: £35,000-£45,000 DOE + benefits

To attend meetings and represent the Industrial and test dept
Contact suppliers and assist in resolving issues
Resolve technical issues and establish root cause & put in place effective preventative action.
Resolve issues working with designers and development departments.
Assist in production reliability projects
Hands on approach to generate workshop models by modifying existing components on mill / lathe if required.
Generate & design production tooling - including test boxes for use on product life test.
Undertake work study and process mapping exercises.
Understand and document improvements in existing production methods and accompanying documentation.

" Day to day technical support for the resolution of build problems, including authorisation of Non Conformance Reports when the documented build process cannot be followed, and authorisation of amendments to Production documents.
Design and documentation of the build process including:
" Assembly Instructions (Standard Operating Procedures)
" Inspection instructions and machine quality checklist.
" Factory layout, facilities and capacities.
" Definition of operation times and administration of routings.
" Definition of assembly lead-times and assembly batch policies.
" Safe mechanical handlings, safe build processes and safe equipment, satisfying legislation such as COSHH and Electrical Safety at Work.
" Identification of cost savings and cost/value improvements, and justification of new capital requirements as necessary.
" Design and procurement of production tooling, including inspection gauges.
" Initial definition of content of despatch lists when not defined by Bill of Material.
Participation in the Engineering Change process including:
" Investigation of change requests affecting Manufacturing processes.
" Authorisation of change requests for advance action.
" Participation in Change Request Teams.
" Implementation of Change Notes affecting Manufacturing Processes
" Participation in New Product Development Projects, especially with regard to design for Manufacture, and Production start up.
" Participation in Manufacturing improvement projects.
" Raise purchase requisitions for purchasing of tooling and equipment.
" Authorisation of change requests for advance action.
" Authorisation of Non Conformance Reports when the documented build process cannot be followed
" Authorisation of amendments to Production documents.

" HNC Mechanical- or Electrical / electronics or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
" Ability to use a CAD -Solid Edge / equivalent drawing package.
" Ability to work unsupervised under own initiative.
" Dynamic and willingness to learn and open to new ideas.
" Excellent skill in verbal and written communication.
" Must be a good motivator and be able to communicate with all levels of the business.
" Must be able to use Microsoft Office applications.
" Ideally from an electrical background
