Functional Safety Engineer
Up to £50,000 + benefits

Do you have a methodical, analytical mind that can sniff out potential dangers and risks in order to support the development of very sophisticated machine based systems?

If you know how to put rigorous safety cases together, understand the motion and kinetics of systems and the considerations during Software, Electronics and mechanical design then I have the ultimate engineering challenge just for you! This is a new opportunity for a proven functional safety engineer to work with one of the UK's most well-known and highly regarded engineering institutions.

As functional safety engineer you be a senior member of the team and will be involved with writing and delivering safety cases for new products and systems. You may not already be a functional safety engineer but may hold a position which involves an element of developing safety cases or working closely with stringent safety legislation in a relevant environment (e.g. automotive, commercial vehicles, avionics / aerospace, rail / rolling stock, military vehicles etc/)

The ideal candidate could be a functional safety engineer, software engineer or electronics engineer or perhaps RAMS, reliability or ILS engineer that works closely with and understands safety cases.

" Hazard analysis, risk assessment and failure mode and effects analysis
" Analysis of machine safety function requirements and performance levels
" Compilation of technical construction files and documentation
" Guidance on current and future legislative requirements and effects
" Liaison with internal and external departments as required

" HND/Degree level in an associated engineering discipline (or equivalent career experience)
" Clued up on system safety analysis methods, such as SISTEMA, FMEDA, FTA, etc
" Knowledge and application of safety standards such as EN ISO 13849, 61508, 26262
" Good working knowledge of machine hydraulic and electrical systems
" Well-developed analytical skills - rigorous but pragmatic
" Possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
" Demonstrate enthusiasm, the ability to communicate and influence change
