Job Description

Test Facilities Engineer - Automotive Emissions
Commutable from; Bedford, Milton Keynes, Royston, Luton, Northampton, Coventry.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven facilities engineer to join a medium sized team of engine test technicians and engineers working on engine and powertrain development projects for automotive OEM customers. The client are an automotive test & development consultancy who are at the forefront of the industry when it comes to creating more powerful, cleaner and economical vehicles.

Recently, the client have made allocated significant investment in to the refresh and refurbishment of their test facilities and have a further plans to invest a significant amount in installing further test cells too. The emissions stories in the news recently have created quite a bit of business and as a result require the room for additional test cells.

As a Facilities engineer you will be responsible for; providing engineering support for the powertrain equipment and test engineers who are performing development testing for customers.

Role Responsibilities

" Enhance facility to increase operational efficiency and maximise running time
" Project Manage the procurement of new equipment and managing CAPEX projects
" Manage maintenance and calibration of equipment
" Standardise and integrate the facility test equipment
" Quality systems and health and safety procedures
" Responsible for liaising with service support engineers
" Support the development of test specifications to meet customer requirements
" Financial responsibilities incurred as part of purchasing and maintaining the test equipment, including service contracts
" Ensure all health and safety and quality procedures have been adhered to
" Act in accordance with the behaviours for staff at all times

Ideally, you will be currently be working in a similar role within an automotive, truck, bus, off-highway engine testing facility managing either an instrumentation lab, emissions lab or test lab and be responsible for project managing that facility. You will be working with measurement devices and other instrumentations, particle analysers and other test machinery.


" Minimum HNC working in an engineering discipline; either mechanical, automotive or motorsport.
" Usage of measurement devices, such as analytical analysers, particle number, FTIR's, preferably within automotive.
" Chassis dynamometer calibrations (instrumentation, dynos)
" Instrumentation experience (Thermocouples, pressure transducers, etc.)
" Understanding of constant volume sampler systems
" Automotive/truck/bus/off-highway background in an engine testing or chassis dynamometer environment.
" Good understanding of health and safety practices

Some travel will be required from time-to-time to visit suppliers which will mostly be UK based.
