Estimating & Manufacturing Engineer
Our family owned vehicle armouring and protection client is looking for a Estimating and Manufacturing Engineer to join them on a permanent basis at either their Surrey or West Sussex facility.
Job DescriptionTitle - Estimating & Manufacturing Engineer
Location - Surrey or West Sussex
Salary - £35,000 - £40,000
" Interface with the Engineering Team to ensure manufacturability of design and provide guidance and advice where required.
" Estimate and record component cost throughout the design process and provide suggestions to the project team to reduce the cost through design changes, material selection, tooling investment and manufacturing processes.
" Create costed Bill of Material (BoM) that is tracked, updated and reviewed throughout the project (bid to production release)
" Liaise with the Procurement Team to ensure the correct suppliers are selected and supported for project procurement activities.
" Support the Project and Sales team in creation of customer proposals.
" Arrange and chair BoM review meetings with the Project Teams to champion cost reduction activities.
" Participate in project review meetings and provide feedback to the Project Team on the tracking and progress of the design cost.
" Liaise with Production staff to understand the assembly process and provide advice and guidance to the Project Team on how the design can be improved to reduce the assembly time and process cost.
" Establishing and reporting performance metrics, KPI's, monthly reports, etc.
" Meeting internal business reporting requirements.
" Facilitate Gateway reviews used to assess the maturity and delivery of the technology.

" Understanding of welding and machining processes
" Understanding of tooling requirements
" Relevant experience of delivering project support of a technical product from concept phase through to prototyping and trials.
