Job Description

Engine Test Technician
Location; Northampton

The engines field is growing exponentially and as a result of continued success, business wins and the advancement of technology, they are now looking to recruit a number of engine testing specialists to work within a test cell environment. The company require no formal introductions when it comes to engines and are working with a number of vehicle OEM's all over the world.

As an engine test technician, you will be responsible for installing engines on to the dynamometer as well as carry out a range of testing including; emissions, performance, durability and more. Furthermore, you will also be responsible for recognising test facility faults, carrying out mechanical fitting activities, follow test instructions, carry out facility maintenance and ensure safety standards are met at all times.

Ideally, you will currently be working within a test cell environment as a test technician, emissions technician, test cell operator or similar. You will have strong engine build, mechanical fitting and also dyno installation skills within either an automotive, power generation or off-highway environment.


- Ideally HNC/ONC qualified or completed apprenticeship.
- Proven background within engine testing, engine dynamometers, engine management systems.
- Usage of emissions measurement systems would be extremely beneficial.
- Proven mechanical fitting skills, welding/fabrication.
- Basic electrical fault finding skills.
- Prior background with AVL PUMA, HORIBA STARS, Concerto, Inca, Cadet or similar would be very beneficial.

This role will be on a two-shift rota working alternate early/late shifts each week.

In return for the above, the company will offer salaries up to £27,000 + shift allowance + benefits.
