Electronics Engineer

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Electronics Engineer to join a global leader in the design, development, manufacture and support of complex and high tech ruggedised equipment, displays and mounted rack systems.

Job Description

Job Title Electronics Engineer
Near Portsmouth
£30,000 - £40,000

The ideal candidate would be a proven electronics design engineer, ideally with a Degree and with great knowledge electronics design, embedded firmware design, including schematic capture as well as layout. Knowledge of working on analogue and digital technologies would be an advantage as would any experience working with portable devices.

Skills required:
Ability to plan and coordinate detailed aspects of electronic engineering work.
Ability to design and calculate electronic designs.
Ability to generate and review schematic drawings and PCB layouts.
Ability to conduct DFMEA for electronic designs.
Ability to collaborate with mechanical designers to ensure integrity of design application.
Ability to prepare and review complete project documentation for conformity and quality.
Ability to design and conduct experiments including analysis and interpretation of data.
Ability to present specific aspects of engineering assignments at project meetings and reviews.

Role responsibilties:
Electronic Circuit & Embedded Firmware Design
o Translate electronic hardware requirements into designs that satisfy the requirements specifications.
o Generate and review schematics designs that show the function and interconnectivity of components.
o Analysis to confirm that the hardware design is capable of supporting the functional and reliability requirements.
o Conform to best practices for critical circuit layout areas, shielding requirements, grounding and power distribution requirements, allocation of test points, and any pre-assigned input/output connector locations.
o Design capability to functional circuit requirement for relatively basic moderate analogue and digital technologies up to micro controller.
o Basic embedded firmware design for microcontrollers as required. Software not expected to be an extensive proportion of the overall design content, but it may expand in time.
o Design of base boards for I/O breakout for PC COM-Express module based boards and basic additional electronic functionality.
o Maintain knowledge of modern electronics through continued professional development.
PCB Design
o Generate and review PCB design that follows good practice as described in IPC 2221 Generic Standard on Printed Board Design.
Prototyping, Validation, Verification and Certification
FMEA, Risk and Project Management

Skills & experience:

Min of 5+ Years in engineering department working on the design of electronic aspects of multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
Experience in the application of best practice for the design and implementation of electronic hardware from concept through to pre-production, testing and productionisation.
Experience of design for manufacture and test
along with ability to prototype, conduct experiments, analyse and interpret data.
Experience of the generation and review of design information including schematics and PCB layouts.
Experience of planning and coordinating detailed aspects of their engineering work including, scopes, budgets, and schedules.

Bachelor's or higher degree in Electronic Engineering.
Engaged in continued professional development to maintain knowledge of modern electronics.
