Permanent Full time (40 hrs per week) position for an Electrical Designer based South of Aberdeen. Salary banding - £40,000 - £42,500 per year Pension: 5% Employer Contribution Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Electrical Designer





Purpose:



As directed by the Plant Manager, assist or conduct various engineering tasks involved in the design, development and manufacture of new products, whilst adhering to clients standards, responsibilities policies, and procedures. The incumbent must also work independently to oversee the maintenance, review and upgrade of existing equipment whilst providing training and leadership to employees in this process.







Key Responsibilities:



* Assist or conduct design and engineering tasks involved in the concept, research design and/or development of new products
* Works independently to conduct problem studies leading to recommendations for upgrading/improving existing equipment in field
* Works independently to perform product testing functions in a manufacturing facility and/or field locations
* Stay abreast of manufacturing capabilities in order to assist with change
* Maintain a working knowledge of industry related codes and standards
* Perform other assignments as directed
* Undertake all duties in a safe and efficient manner, promoting safe working practices, complying with all company policies including but not limited to the clients Code of Conduct and OSHA Safety rules



Accountabilities:



* Form part of a team that will work to meet/exceed goals in developing technology, supporting existing products and producing technical documentation
* Provides technical training and support where needed





COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education / Qualifications:



· CompEX Trained

* 17th Edition Electrical Competency Qualification
* Time served Electrical/Electronic Apprenticeship

· Preferred Bachelor’s or Associate Degree



Experience:



* Advanced knowledge of engineering standards including codes and regulations affecting design development
* Electrical, electronic, PLC fault finding experience
* Experienced with the following Software Packages;

* Siemens TIA Portal (Step 7 and WinCC)
* Allen Bradley RS Logix 5000
* AutoCAD Electrical
* SolidWorks
* Experience of supporting customers internationally
* Good working knowledge of hydraulics systems and schematics
* Experience of PLC panel building and diagnostics
* Lean manufacturing and design experience

* Experienced with the following Drawing/Design Packages;



Key Skills:



* Maintain proficiency in the individuals’ field of expertise through the study of related literature and of new concepts and/or equipment developed by others

* Ability to work under extreme pressure with strict deadlines

* Excellent motivational, organisational and problem solving skills
* Attend industry-sponsored functions to gain knowledge of technological advancements and requirements
* Ability to communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner
