Electrical Cost Engineer

Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity within a global automotive OEM. You will be based with us in our R&D facility in Bedfordshire. As an Electrical Cost Engineer your responsibilities will be wiring harness cost management for current and development models to ensure that vehicles are launched to market within budget and yearly cost reduction targets are achieved.

Your requirements:
-You will have electrical cost management experience.
-Bench-marking experience.
-Knowledge of wiring harness, plastic part & metal bracket manufacture.
-Understand electrical theory and the operation of vehicle electrical systems.
-Strong project management skills.
-You will be a good communicator.
-We will offer travel abroad, typically a few days to 2 weeks, but on rare occasions could be longer.
-Self-motivating and self-managing. Pro-active. Positive. Energetic personality and flexible regarding working practice and working hours.

Although not essential, it would be great to have:
-Knowledge of 3D CAD tools and electrical system circuit design to better understand cost reductions and areas to apply them

Your responsibilities:
-Daily management of current model cost reduction activities for three Wiring Harness Teams.
-Organisation of cost reduction idea generation events.
-Generation of Technical files for part sourcing.
-Current model Cost Status reporting to management.
-Support of budget setting for future models.
-Development model cost tracking and reporting.
