Job Description

EDS Engineer
Commutable from; Warwick, Gaydon, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Banbury.
Salary from; £30,000 - £35,000 + Benefits

An automotive tier 1 supplier are in a strong position at the moment in regards to projects and programmes for one of their main customers based in Gaydon.

We have a permanent vacancy in Engineering to take on the Material Cost improvement activities, amongst other tasks, that they do on all their harnesses to drive cost out of the business and improve profitability.

Primarily, this will require the individual to:

" Generate ideas for cost improvement on their own initiative
" Take suggested material changes from central team (cable, covering, connector, terminal, clip etc) and review these
" Support internal and customer meeting including occasional reviews in manufacturing plants overseas
" Report status to the management teams
" Drive these ideas through to implementation

Ideally, this would suit a more junior engineer who has maybe completed their studies and has been exposed to the automotive harnessing industry and may wish to follow the career path of an EDS Engineer.

You will need:

" The ability to review all ideas for whether they are possible based on sound Engineering judgement (short term they can use other team members to learn this but need the initiative and intelligence to develop this skill for themselves)
" To arrange line trials at the customer sites where potentially feasible to check and get approval for these
" To raise the necessary engineering change documents to enact these upon successful line trial.
" A degree in an engineering field, preferably with an electrical bias.
" Some exposure to 2D/3D harness designs as well as industry standard CAD.

You will also be expected to carry out other Engineering tasks as dictated and will over a period of time learn more core wiring EDS skills
