My client, a market leading household brand is looking to recruit a skilled Data Protection Officer to report directly to the IT Director and liaising with the Legal, Compliance, Risk and Information Security teams as required, as well as with the Marketing, Product, Sales teams and HR and Finance.

As the Data Protection Officer it will be your responsibility to:

- Advise on data protection/privacy matters across the organisation.
- Provide cross-functional support with respect to management of data privacy and protection risks.
- Advise on new product initiatives and strategic initiatives.
- Advise on and help coordinating relevant initiatives, such as the GDPR program.
- Advise on and support privacy risk assessments and processes.

It will be expected that you will have a CIPP/E or ISEB Certificate in Data Protection and CIPM qualifications in order to fulfil this role.

To be considered for this vacancy, you will possess the following skills / proficiency's:

- Demonstrable knowledge as a practising privacy practitioner.
- Detailed knowledge of data protection requirements.
- Deep understanding of systems and processes.
- International and cross-border experience.
- Expertise in data protection laws and practices and an in-depth understanding of the GDPR.
- Experience with designing and running data protection programs.
- Deep understanding of systems, data and processes.
- Familiarity with privacy and security risk assessments and best practices, privacy certifications/seals, and information security standards certifications.
- Sound understanding of and familiarity with information technology programming and infrastructure, and information security practices and audits.
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and decision-making within the organisation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with data subjects, data protection authorities and other controllers as required.

As part of the role you will be expected to inform, advise and issue recommendations to the organisation on its privacy compliance (including GDPR) in cooperation with the central data protection functions, the internal audit functions, the information security functions, as well as the legal and the compliance team.

You will monitor changes in data protection regulatory requirements and recommend updates to policies, technologies, processes and procedures.

You will contribute to a data protection culture within the organisation and support and help manage the GDPR program, in particular helping to implement essential elements of the GDPR, such as the principles of data processing, data subjects' rights, data protection by design and by default, records of processing activities, profiling, uses of sensitive personal data, security of processing, and notification and communication of data breaches.
