Data Privacy & Protection Consultant

This vacancy is for an experienced data protection/privacy consultant to join my flagship client in their Data Protection and Privacy practice. This role would suit either a business consultant wanting to focus on Data protection, or an experienced technology consultant who has a desire to work less with technology and more with direct client behaviours.

Job Description

Data Protection Consultant / Data Privacy Consultant - Professional Services - UK Travel - Up to £97,000 + car allowance & benefits (dependent on experience)

The role is to provide consultancy and delivery of analysis and advisory services to clients. There will be extensive working at customer sites across the UK, so base location is flexible with a willingness to travel.

The position will be to deliver on the following:

- Creation of governance structures for Data Protection and privacy compliance within client environments.
- Working with the client to run inventory audits of personal data held within a client in order to support Data Protection processing notifications;
- Facilitate Data Protection risk assessments and develop appropriate compliance processes
- Develop and implement Data Protection procedures such as subject access request procedures and breaches and complaints procedures.
- Develop and deliver Data Protection training and awareness through face to face, CBT and other means.
- Develop and implement an annual Data Protection governance plan.
- Provide expert advice on selection, design, implementation and operation of Data Protection controls and risk management.
- Carry out or respond to due diligence exercises on proposed 3rd parties.
- Review 3rd party contracts for adequacy of Data Protection and privacy clauses in contracts and privacy notices.
- Reviewing systems, procedures, processes and provide expert guidance to ensure on-going compliance with Data Protection and privacy requirements.
- Investigation of Data Protection breaches and complaints, ensuring risks are mitigated and situations resolved.
- Ensure correct submissions are made to regulatory bodies.
- Regular reporting and monitoring of breach related activity.

Qualifications
- Computing, law or business degree; or equivalent
- CISSP, CIPP/E or ISEB Data Protection qualification is desirable
- Full UK driving licence
- Detailed working knowledge of Data Protection Act and privacy based legislation in the UK and a knowledge of Data Protection legislation in other countries.
