Specific Job Description

Understand and implement, as directed by our client, the safety requirements of the IMOS project and maintain currency of analyses, as defined in the IMOS safety processes.
Review and support updates to subcontract safety documents.

Participate in/conduct, as required:

o Zonals and physical safety audits.
o Hazard and Operability Study) HAZOP studies.
o Project Safety Committees.
o Hardware Analyses (e.g. Process hazard analysis (PHA) Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Sub-System Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Operating & Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), etc.)
o Aircraft Safety Assessment Model development - Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
o Hazard Log management (CASSANDRA)
Comply with legislative requirements and Company and Departmental procedures

Required skills, qualifications and experience

The System Safety Engineer will have sufficient knowledge and understanding of:

o Our client's Environmental and System Safety policies.
o UK and EU safety related legislation (e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act)
o Environmental legislation and management systems (eg. ISO14001 etc.)
o Defence and commercial safety standards (e.g. Def Stan 00-56, Mil Std 882, IEC61508, JSPs 430, 454, MAA Regulations)
o Best and current system safety practice of the organisation

Desired skills, qualifications and experience

The System Safety Engineer will exhibit the following attributes:
o Be able to work on the task associated with the overall function without placing an excessive burden on the practitioner or expert.
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
o Be a team player
