This power electronics design role is working on just that so you need a good automotive background coupled with excellent PSU/SMPS experience.

Contract Power Electronics Engineer- High Speed Drives

Warwickshire £45/hr Ltd

Our client is a small high-tech engineering company specialising in the design and development of high speed electric motors and drives for automotive turbo-charging applications.

Due to increased project work they are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic contract power electronics design engineer to design and develop electronic power systems for automotive high speed drives.

The successful candidate must have a strong background in the automotive or motorsport world to support higher volume design, cost and production challenges.

The Role:

The position will focus on the design, build and test of power electronics systems for high speed drive automotive applications

Design and simulate power electronics circuits including physical layout

Design interface, gate drive and control PCBs

Creation and verification of embedded control software.

Assist in building of prototype power electronics and control systems and testing to verify simulation.

Participate in the creation of functional specifications, DVP, FMEA, test procedures.

Identify opportunities for improvements in functionality and manufacture.

Skills / Knowledge:

Degree qualified or equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering

You must have a good background in Automotive / Motorsport / F1 applications

Proven skills in motor drive design is a particular advantage including inverters and DC-DC converters, transformers, high speed motors, motor drives, PSU's SMPS etc.

PCB circuit design and optimisation.

Embedded control software experience desirable but not essential.

Knowledge of EMI / EMC considerations would be ideal

Design for high volume manufacture and cost down activities

Proven knowledge of thermal analysis and heat transfer would be an advantage
