Job Purpose

This role exists to enable the delivery of powertrain calibration for the special projects division for the only Hypercar project currently in the UK.

You will be supporting and coordinate the development of calibrations for the whole Powertrain on test beds and in vehicle. To define and manage the calibration test programmes and the numerous suppliers required achieving delivery of a fully certified vehicle calibration system meeting the programme objectives. To assess and feedback issues to the special project engineering team to enable the calibration to meet European certification standards, and the companies attribute targets.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

o Lead calibration activity for the project, assimilate and distribute knowledge within the team reporting to the Vehicle Engineering Leader and Chief Engineer.

o Responsibility for base engine calibration deliverables managing outsource test bed facilities and Technical Partners

o Responsibility for transmission calibration deliverables managing outsource test bed facilities and Technical Partners

o Responsibility for complete powertrain calibration deliverables managing outsource test bed facilities, whole vehicle test/development and Technical Partners

o Be first point of contact for key Calibration outsource contracts

o Be part of a project team to create and develop the various aspects of calibration

o Manage and support external facilities and suppliers to achieve Calibration team goals

o Represent the company externally at a senior level with regard to calibration activities and supplier visits

o Report progress vs plans at Director level

o Prepare project-timing plans for the Powertrain and programme team to support the projects engineering delivery.

o Prepare reports of all findings from Test bed, Vehicle testing and environmental testing of the vehicle, and present these to all levels up to director technical meetings

Qualifications & Experience

o Ideally educated to Degree level or equivalent relevant experience.

o Experience within automotive vehicle manufacturer, and also preferably with some motorsport experience, particularly within all aspects of powertrain calibration.

o Experience of managing and running complete powertrain calibration projects from conception to programme certification/delivery.

o Recent direct experience of Hybrid technologies

o Experience of OBD

o Experience of in-car calibration for drivability.

o Full driving licence
