Our innovative automotive client who specialise in hybrid vehicle design and build are looking for a creative, confident and outgoing CAD Engineer to work on whole vehicle projects in their London office.

Job Description

CAD Engineer / Product developer

Reports to Product Director


To actively develop and digitally engineer the team's ideas and create visual representations of innovative products for the electric commercial vehicle market. The role holder will have a passion and focus to provide solutions that create a high end user experience as well as being fit for purpose.


o To consult with the team to identify the design requirements / proposals to include the concept, performance and production criteria
o To create 3D/2D files reflecting the company culture and objectives
o To act as the human interface and to evaluate ergonomic possibilities
o Participate with the business to develop and improve design practice to reflect business development requirements and to develop improved methods and processes
o Communicate any design issues so that systems and processes can be updated, highlighting issues as appropriate and providing suggestions for remedial action / enhancements
o To suggest and investigate appropriate materials and production processes and to troubleshoot where appropriate
o To proactively keep up to date with current design trends, technologies and influences
o Present designs, samples and final work for review and take appropriate follow up actions
o Testing product designs using models, prototypes, specialist computer software and CAD technology
o To effectively liaise with the marketing and production teams contributing as required.
o To actively identify new applicable software systems that will enhance the company's product offering

Technical Expertise

o Automotive Industrial / Product Design degree or equivalent with expertise in CAD software ideally 3d Studio Max, Rhino or Alias, together with Solid Works or Catia V5 gained within the automotive sector
o A high level of competence and practical application experience to support the design process specifically with surfacing and body design
o The ability to utilise unique creative flair together with expertise and understanding of technology, materials and manufacturing
o Good visual and spatial awareness.
