Position Description:

Within Steering, Wheels & Tyres the Wheels team has responsibility for Design, analysis and release of wheels, fixings, badges and transit protection. A CAD Engineer is required to produce detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for these components and release through Teamcenter. This predominantly involves design in context of complex castings and fabrications requiring the CAD Engineer to create geometry in both solids and surfaces and interpret CAE analysis results to iterate the designs.

Skills Required:

Proven ability to use CATIA V5 for both solid and surface modelling. Proven ability of interpretation of CAE stress and durability analysis to iterate and optimise designs. Proven ability to produce detailed engineering drawings and conduct packaging studies.

Experience Required:

1. Mechanical design background and a passion for structural engineering - Proven ability to use CATIA V5 for both solid and surface modelling.

2. Proven ability of interpretation of CAE stress and durability analysis to iterate and optimise designs.

3. Proven ability to produce detailed engineering drawings of complex assemblies, including application of appropriate GD&T.

4. Working knowledge of manufacturing processes used in wheel construction and ability to design for manufacturing compatibility.

5. Degree-level engineering qualification or equivalent. - IT Skills - Microsoft software skills, excel, power point, etc.

Experience Preferred:

1. Ability to control and release components and drawings through Teamcenter.

2. Proven ability to use CATIA V6 for both solid and surface modelling.

3. Proven problem solving skills, Ability to react quickly to change.

4. Knowledge of automotive architectures and chassis systems.

5. Knowledge of DFMEA, Engineering Specifications and Design Verification Plans (DVP).

6. Knowledge of systems of benefit (Digibuck, Product creation & delivery system AIMS etc.)

7 Experience of performing CAE stress and durability analysis to evaluate designs.
