Schedule Type: Full Time
Work Hours 39.0 Hours per Week

Standard Rates: 16-20 GBP per Hour

Job Purpose
To procure a defined range of facilities equipment and associated services, in line with Purchasing departmental procedures and objectives, focusing on securing strong commercial terms and excellent quality and delivery service levels from our suppliers.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
o Provide purchasing / commercial input into cross-functional teams that effectively contributes to the organisation's programme goals by applying a confident approach to teamwork.
o Understand the needs of internal customers and wider business impact to confidently enter into total cost and contractual negotiations with current and potential suppliers.
o Develop and maintain commodity strategies for a specific range of commodities, ensuring that the business is kept up to date on market place commercial and technical developments, as well as potential suppliers. Collaboration with other areas of the business on maintaining commodity strategies which meet the short as well as the long term aims of the business.
o Evaluate cost data, work diligently to identify cost saving opportunities. Quickly assimilate supplier and the businesses processes in order to positively impact purchasing performance.
o Understand and apply purchasing tools and techniques to close cost gaps and achieve value for money whilst maintaining supplier relationships.
o Manage supplier performance to support project deliverables.
o Constantly strive for process improvement opportunities internally, as well as with the Supplier base, focussing on business 'Best Practice' initiatives.
o Identify supplier risk and develop robust risk mitigation strategies where necessary.
o Lead and promote good supplier relationships.
o Play an instrumental role in enabling the function to achieve its business objectives, through meeting or ideally exceeding defined objectives.

Qualifications & Experience
o Educated to Degree level and/or a full member of CIPS preferable.
o Purchasing Experience essential.
o Experience in Engineering services, IT/Hardware/Software, Facilities/Maintenance and Site Service sectors would be favourable.
o Experience in cost and contractual negotiation desirable.
o Ability to prioritise tasks and have effective time management and analytical skills.
o Good communication and interpersonal skills.
o Full driving licence and be prepared to travel where their specific work responsibilities require
