Description of Business Environment:
The Business Development Manager (IBD) will report to their respective
team lead who in turn reports to the UK BD Director. The BD Manager role is a
key part of the UK based BD team accountable for securing new business across the
my client's Portfolio in UK and other agreed International locations.
The BD team, led by the BD Director, is accountable for the portfollio of new business in the UK. The portfolio ranges from Merlin Helicopters, through distribution technologies, training and sustainment systems for Air, Land, Sea and Cyber and includes Commercial Energy.
The BD Manager will be responsible for the performance and
management of their respective market segments and accountable for your
personal order commitments.
Other responsibilities will include:
" Evaluates and reviews customer research, point-of-sale and syndicated data.
" Reports findings for major marketing, distribution, and manufacturing proposals and their impact on the sales function.
" Participates in the central development and implementation of new products, re-launches, new business building programs, sales rationale, etc. May also participate in presales or sales meetings to review proposed plans.
" Functions as a liaison between regional sales and marketing function.
" Provides and/or initiates sales analysis affecting distribution, spending as it relates to volume, brand promotional strategy and selling tools.
Specific Job Description:
Key Business Objectives:
o Develop and successfully execute strategies to achieve agreed LRP orders.
o Develop and successfully execute as part of capture team win plans for specific opportunities and/or market segments.
o Thorough understanding of external market and internal capabilities to inform and direct internal business cases.
o Create actionable stakeholder management plans to identify and manage key customer and industry contacts to enable new business commitments.
o Effective BD team member responsible for the overall performance of the designated market segments.
o Accountable for individual LRP order commitments.
o Responsible for the designated market segments including strategy development and strategy execution.
o Responsible for the management of the identification, qualification and pursuit of new business opportunities within the designated market segments.
o Accountable for accurate competitor intelligence and market insight for designated market segment.
o Responsible for individual reporting functions including New Business Funds expenditure against planned agreed EAC limits, all opportunity data within the BDOT database tools and routine (weekly and monthly) reporting to the IBD Team Lead and Director and respective Lines of Business/P&L centres.
o Contribute to the monthly progress assessment and resource planning activities.
o Provide accurate LRP data for subsequent financial year planning activities.
o Create actionable stakeholder management plans in conjunction with the designated P&L centres and act as customer advocate during new business captures.
o Coordinate and lead all New Business Board activities within market segment up to and including Pursue for new business opportunities.
o Support capture activities including proposals and market assessment, competitor intelligence and price to win goals.
o Support of designated trade shows, conferences, exhibitions etc.
o Develop and deliver marketing materials, such as concept papers, white papers at conferences, exhibitions and customer meetings to aid customer/industry understanding in order to shape the market segments.
Typical Minimum Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education; Considered an expert, authority in discipline.
